A newly-released video shows the moment a kidnapped woman covertly asked staff in a veterinary clinic to call the police on her allegedly abusive boyfriend.

Jeremy Floyd is said to have held his girlfriend — who has not been identified — captive inside his home for at least two days, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

After convincing him to let her take her dog to a veterinary clinic in the town of DeLand, she quietly slipped a note to staff asking them to call the police and informing them of a gun her boyfriend was carrying at the time.

“Call the cops. My boyfriend is threatening me. He has a gun. Please don’t let him know,” the note read.

Security camera footage shows police confronting Mr Floyd alongside his girlfriend, inspecting him for firearms and handcuffing him after the discovery of his weapon.

Mr Floyd was arrested on charges of false imprisonment, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and simple battery, according to the sheriff’s office spokeswoman, Laura Williams.

The sheriff’s office told the Orlando Sentinel that Mr Floyd repeatedly threatened his girlfriend with the gun, shooting it twice towards her two days before they went to the veterinary clinic together. On their way to the facility, the 39-year-old threatened the woman once again, claiming he would kill her family.

Police later discovered the two bullet holes inside of his home.

Ms Williams described the woman as “visibly injured” after the incident, and said she was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated for a head injury and bruises.

In the video of the incident, the woman gives her hand-written note to another woman seated behind an office desk at the clinic. The staff member then shows the note to another female employee of the facility. Neither of the women publicly confront the victim, who walks away as they read her message.

The woman, whose face is blurred throughout the clip, can also later be seen beside her boyfriend as police officers enter the section of the clinic they were seated in.

Mr Floyd is being held without bail in a Florida jail as he awaits trial. He has not yet had a chance to enter a plea.
