Hammerson’s boss took a £715,000 pay cut last year – but still earned almost £2million.
David Atkins, who joined the shopping centre group in 1998 and became chief executive in 2009, saw his total pay fall from £2,681,000 to £1,966,000.
The cut came as payments from a so-called long-term incentive plan dropped from over £1million in 2016 to £358,000 last year.
Atkins’s basic salary rose from £608,000 to £623,000.
He is orchestrating a £3.4billion takeover of rival Intu.
