Deutsche chief of investment Alisdair Warren is the owner of The Electric Palace cinema
Deutsche Bank’s dome-headed chief of investment, Alisdair Warren, runs an interesting sideline when not sweating over the German lender’s financial woes.
He’s owner of The Electric Palace, an art deco cinema in his home town of Bridport, Dorset, which he bought in 2015 for £500,000.
He says the once-struggling picture house now breaks even after investing £1million tarting it up.
Certainly a more imaginative way of spending a bonus than spanking it on a yacht.
GKN boss Anne Stevens, currently fending off a £7billion hostile takeover from Melrose, announced she was in a ‘smiley mood’ during a conference call yesterday.
The reason? She’d received a Valentine’s card from her two dogs. I do hope bottle blonde Anne, 69, is sufficiently steeled for this tussle.
Janet Yellen should not have been ousted as chairman of the US Federal Reserve and replaced by Jerome Powell.
That’s according to Donald Trump’s seedy-looking former adviser Steve Bannon, 64, who says: ‘Yellen’s my girl.’ His girl? Matronly Janet, 71, must be delighted.
Pompous ex-CBI chief Digby Jones, 62, tweets: ‘For years Oxfam has taken our tax pound and then lectured business from the moral high ground on transparency & good behaviour.
How about returning our taxes that were used in part to obtain sexual favours in Haiti, Oxfam? Muck out your own stable first!’ A user enquires: ‘Is this a parody account?’
Well-preserved businessman Richard Caring, 69, the owner of Mayfair’s wallet-busting seafood restaurant Sexy Fish, plans another venture, provisionally called Sexy Elephant.
Calm down dears, no Dumbos on the menu. It will be an upmarket Indian canteen.
Visa UK’s advertisement featuring British Olympic speed skater Elise Christie, 27, who was barged over in Tuesday’s 500million final, hasn’t aged well.
Still popping up online, it shows Elise picking up a drink with the words: ‘You need a pick-me-up pronto.
We help you pay in record time.’ Incidentally, the ad promotes Visa’s contactless payment system.
